blockheads

Orientation led a group of us to Blockheads for 3.00 margaritas/beers and good times...

and then Beka took Sami's pictures after she posted them since she didn't actually take any on her camera...

inew

Today the new imac arrived in the mail room and Beka set it up...

The screen is huge, and the keyboard is tiny....

And for those of you keeping score at home, this is a self-portrait of Beka from behind her head so you can see everything she also sees...

Backstory: Doug thought these would be the coolest pictures ever but we were never successful in taking one. Until now...

Unfortuantely, it didn't show the perspective of a huge computer as well as hoped...

It brings out the blue eyes.

Our new hats...

sticky fingers, sticky paws

We made cupcakes...

and Eva stole the kittie treats

(from under the bed, in the carrier, in a bin... no joke)

and then tried to look innocent...

Not always so cute... chubby little thief.

weed & feed?

While Beka is becoming incredably obsessed with Weeds, Pushkin still acts like a fool with the kitty weed...

ziti ziti

Doug worked late, Beka made baked ziti with a Béchamel Sauce base.

EUREKA!

After weeks of research, toil, and total frustration, Doug has overcome a major obstacle in his robot design project. Exhibits A-D:

Breakin' stuff.

Fuel.

It reads "yes!yes!yes!" ad infinitum. That's how good it felt.

Soldered it wrong but, hey, the pins are jumped correctly.

the irony of ichabod...

So as we left Central Park, Doug looked down and exclaimed, "It's Ichabod Crane Running Lane!!"

The irony was that because it was dark, Beka's first attempt to take a picture rendered Doug headless too...

rufus "rain"wright

Tonight Rufus Wainwright was playing the Summerstage. Since it was rainy, we decided to forego our picnic and just take our towels and umbrellas...

This was another one of the shows where the tickets were 40 bucks, so we sat on a big rock behind the stage...

You can kinda see the stage... It was an American flag with black and white stripes — for all the bad things America has done — and then the stars were for all the beautiful things America has done.

Just in case you weren't sure how he felt about America from his last album...

why do you build me up

We painted the kitchen today.

Anyone who visited this summer can attest to the fact that it needed something...

So we painted the backsplash area a color called "Buttercup."

No, it is not the color of Audrey.

nyc shopping

Doug went to work and Beka went shopping...

She came home for a fashion show of her new dress, 4 tops, and one pin...
By the way, Beka spent a grand total of $31.

Had she paid the orginal prices, it would have been over $119.

:)

And then Doug wanted his own fashion show...
Apparently this is what all the fresh kids are wearing...

pushkin's egg

So a couple of weeks ago Doug and I had Kinder Eggs. Pushkin took a fancy to the little eggs that hold the toys...
Today he was playing with them and kept thinking it was under the table...
But, well...

At one point he got scared and tried hiding inbetween the shower curtains...

Yes, he very well might have been licking the bathtub.
(Beka has caught him licking the tub before... as well as Doug's bowling ball...)

if it doesn't fit...

While Beka was combing her hair in the bathroom she heard things falling.

"Chubbers" likes this windowsill because we will put our stale bread out for the birds and she likes to chase the unsuspecting pigeons.

Apparently she wanted to be all up close and personal. Although she is down to 19 lbs as of this morning, she does not fit...

therefore
...you must acquit.

fiona and nickel creek

Tonight, rather than pay 37.50 per ticket, we listened to Fiona Apple and Nickel Creek from a little clearing behind the Summerstage...

We packed a picnic dinner and some trader joe's wine... it'd be nice if we had a picnic set (hint hint to the mother who has bought them numerous times for other people because she thinks they're cute).

And Doug was a duck...
We could see the stage from where we were, just not the people on it... eh...

dinner and almonds??

We had dinner in the Quad tonight...

Beka's new red shoes →
Doug got some Peanut Butter M&Ms...
He found the allergy information a bit funny...
