beer tasting

We found a grocery store with a really good selection and decent prices on single bottles. So we each chose three and had a 2 day beer tasting...

First up, Rogue Mocha Porter.
Dark — like burnt black coffee, missing the creaminess of Guinness, not terribly bitter, but not spectacular overall.

Doug's pick: Old Peculiar

Another dark beer — not as bitter, with coffee undertones, sweet, and overall tasty.

Lagunitas Sirius

This got worse as we drank it. Very hoppy, very bitter, very bad.

Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale

Beka wanted to try a Smuttynose brew that she might like better than the IPA and Pumpkin Ale (Check back later for when we have compiled a tasting of pumpkin ales.)

Much more pleasurable. Light in taste, easy to drink, hint of acidity, but a clean finish.

We sipped on the Sierra Nevada Summerfest as we finished our dinner of vegetable lo mein.

After questioning what bottom-fermenting meant... Beka wanted to add Lemon to it (surprisingly), Doug thought it was clean, but uneventful summer beer.

Beka's final pick: Red Bach

Delightfully red in color, very very sweet, good for the springtime, reminded us of Cheerwine...
Cheerbeer, perhaps?
