katy & jesse

We have some friends who had a non-wedding this past weekend in Rhode Island.

(Jesse, Katy, and Beka at prom →)

Although we couldn't make it, they're soon to be moving in together here in NY and asked for art to adorn their walls...

So knowing Katy's affinity for old typewriters and their overall fun and funky style, this is what came out...

It's all watercolor and harder to see what's going on in the pictures than thought (You can click on any of them to make them gargantuan)

how many volts?

Doug brought things home from his lab for the robot...

Doug: Lick!

bring your cat to work...

everyday!

Beka took this on her phone... it was moments before Tara (the black one) went after Pema (the one under the papers)...

the result was the mousepad flying off the desk, papers falling, and somehow, her computer screen going black.

(from the new cookbook again)

And look, its the fish,
not cookies...

And Doug brought home flowers...

le chat est sur la chaise

Doug let Beka draw....

Mais, la souris est en dessous la table,
le chat est sur la chaise et
le singe est… est…
le singe est disparu.

et le chat...
le chat.

you will listen to my science!

"When you open a bottle of beer, the moisture inside the pocket of air condenses instantaneously, forming a cloud."

Beka got a new cookbook...

density

Beka: Look at that cat. He takes up most of the couch.
Doug: That's a good 32 inches.

Doug: Let's figure out his density!

And then Pushkin woke up and quickly vacated the premises.

We got to see Heather and Missy last night!

We had some delicious dinner and then went for drinks and singing in the city...

Heather and "Vladimir" →

more robot fun

More robot parts are arriving...

photo op

So we have a picture frame to fill and thought we would put in on our door. We of course didn't feel any of the ones we had already taken were fit for the frame, so we thought, hey, why not take a picture with us and the kitties...

No, Doug is not actually choking Eva, but Pushkin is thinking about it

Doug is teaching Eva to be ferocious while Beka chases after Pushkin.

(Anyone else reminded of Little Miss Sunshine?)

Eva's on the run now too...

... and seems so happy to be back!

Roller Coster Couch!

After a while Beka thought, let's try a picture from the bed — the kitties like the bed.

It only got funnier worse...

Eva's good side... she doesn't look as chubby...

We finally started to bribe them with treats and food... but they were a little distracted...

Finally, we decided to use the first picture we took.

(Sometimes Beka does take after her mother...)

key lime pie

After we squeezed them, they looked like Venus Fly traps.

This was Beka's first time for making or eating key lime pie.

Doug, who's much more of a key lime pie aficionado, called it the best key lime pie he'd ever had.

saturday

Go Gators! →
Radishes at the Union Square Green market... $1 for a bunch of radishes the size of Doug's head!
So while we couldn't let someone else adopt Pushkin, we do get annoyed with him running out into the hall...

especially today when it resulted in us being locked out of our apartment.

Doug had to go down and explain, "The cat locked us out of our apartment."
