st. patty's parade

There was a St. Patrick's Day parade in our neighborhood... it was fantastic -- and not just because there were multiple bulldogs...

empty apartment

Here's our empty apartment.

we moved.

it's true. we moved. yes, this is part of the reason why nothing has happened on here.

We moved at the very end of February -- that weekend when NYC had the huge blizzard. Yeah, we moved everything to Queens that weekend. It was kinda horrible. The picture with the snow is Doug's very first time shoveling snow...

The cats were of course no help.

luther

Beka's mom got her a wind up Luther and a few other things for her birthday. The cats weren't very impressed with Luther.

There has been this bottle of beer that has sat in our kitchen for months... Beka found it at Whole Foods and recognized it as a Brooklyn Brew we hadn't had before. Doug decided that he wanted to wait for a special occasion to pop open the bottle.

So when Doug came home from work in an unusually chipper mood, Beka knew something was up. Instead of telling her what happened, he just showed her the bottle -- the thorn in his side at work, the bane of his current existence, the Hitler to his Germany, quit.

And so, finally, we enjoyed the Brooklyn Brewery's Local 2.

christmas visitors

Yay for friends visiting and giving us an excuse to go to Blockheads and then see the tree again. Too bad Beka's camera battery died after one picture (the second is from facebook).

cat fight

beka was given a big fluffy robe for christmas by a teacher at the church. it came in a big red, half box that she gave to the cats; which they love. this does make the amount of cat fights rise over who gets to be in the box. at first eva was the only inhabitant, but then pushkin decided he should get a turn. here's how the process goes:


1. Pushkin looms near box. Eva wakes up defensively.

2. Pushkin tries to bite Eva's ears and neck. Someone yells at Pushkin to stop. He looks back at us, laughing in his head.

3. Eva brings out the smack down.

4. Eventually Eva runs away and Pushkin is declared victorious.

what are you doin new years eve?

After 2 Old Year's Night Services and carefully avoiding all things having to do with Times Square, we got home to a bottle of chilled champagne (given to us as a gift). Realizing we didn't really like champagne that much, we went for the brunch classic -- mimosas. And Eddie Izzard. And Eddie Izzard and Mimosas.

christmastime

christmas was busy. very busy. If you want to see the various many ways it was busy, it is on the church website and on the church's facebook.

Also, the postcard we used at the church is a photo Doug took last year at the Christmas Pageant.
